A mentor of mine in my photography club invited me out for a photo shoot and a bite to eat last night. We met at Ken Thompson Park by Mote Marine Laboratory and The Bait Shop. The weather turned tumultuous quite quickly and I thought about going home. But the water lover in me wanted to stay and play in the rain and get some shots no matter what. The wind rocked my car and the absolute downpour pounded down making it difficult to see or hear anything. It was so much fun! I was there with friends but was still alone which I enjoy. I saw a sailboat out in the distance and put my window down. The inside of my vehicle and everything on my passenger side got soaked but I love this shot. I thought about the sailor who owns the boat, the waters the boat may have traveled, the thrill of it and the next time it will be out again. It just spoke to me.
She just loved getting her picture taken. I think I could have stayed there all day and she would have enjoyed it. You can find this beauty at Jungle Gardens.
A good lesson learned for this new photographer and that is some of your favorite photographs are taken at the most random times and locations. This photograph was shot while in a drive-thru line at a Dunkin’ Donuts for some much needed coffee on my way to work one morning a few weeks ago. I reviewed my results just recently and was pleasantly surprised. I hope you are as well.
Tis a rainy day for most living in the state of Florida. This photograph was taken though at my former residence on Siesta Key in Sarasota. I loved living there and miss it terribly. I would dangle my feet off the dock and just take it the serene sights, sounds and smells. I would watch manatee swim by, mullets practically fly across the top of the water, crabs wave hello from under, jellyfish gracefully swim through, and a variety of birds sing and impress morning, noon and night. Now that I’m currently residing off the key, I’m thinking the birds there are even more fun than where I am now. Siesta has such a different feel and I need to get back stat. My favorite part though was having one of my really good friends randomly show up at my dock to pick me up for a day of boating. You just knew it was going to be a fun day with him! Living on the water, on Siesta Key, surrounded by wonderful, really fun friends come rain or shine is the perfect place pour moi.
It was a nice, sunny day at Marina Jacks until my new puppy, Benny, and my mom’s dog, Hunnie, and I all went to leave. As we left the Sarasota Bayfront Park and walked through the marina, this fog came in pretty quickly.
