A long porch, some Adirondack chairs to take the sights in with a dear friend, the ocean in front of you and the sunshine on your face. Not sure I can make life any simpler.
Some days you just feel His true presence and get a glimpse of the astonishing true beauty that exists elsewhere.
Some days you can paddle like hell and never reach your end result.
I thought that I had gazed upon everything beautiful in nature as I have spent many years traveling thousands of miles to view the beauty spots of the earth, but I have reached the climax. Never again can I gaze upon the beauty spots of the earth and enjoy them as being the finest thing I have ever seen. Crater Lake is far above them all. — Author Jack London, 1911
Surprisingly, this Rochester, NY girl who fell in love with baseball as a spectator at the Rochester Red Wings while watching Cal Ripken, Jr. play, talk, walk, interact, smile, (well you get it!), and later at Camden Yards at the series where Cal Ripken tied and then beat Lou Gehrig’s record for most consecutive games played, I’ve actually fallen in love with the Boston Red Sox, Fenway Park and Boston overall. Fenway is full of charm and some of the worlds most loyal fans. Fenway is also the location of the film Fever Pitch with Drew Barrymore and Jimmy Fallon, and it’s the oldest and the fourth-smallest in the MLB.
One of Fenway’s most popular features is the Green Monster wall. A definite bucket list for many. The 37’2″ wall was built as part of the original ballpark. The wall includes a scoreboard that is updated manually. Though it wasn’t painted green until 1947, the wall turns many would-be line-drive homers into doubles it also allows some high fly balls to clear of play for a home run.
I’m in Boston for a marketing conference and had the opportunity to attend Monday night’s game against the Toronto Blue Jays. We had great seats and one of the guests near me had a picture sent to her of us being on TV (see below)! It was a fun ballgame at Fenway Park!
Cheers to this year’s hopeful world-series playoffs as a contender!
