Boating is by far my all-time favorite thing to do. I was out enjoying a special ride with a dear friend. It was one of those days that the sun just danced upon the water, the wind blew through your hair, the right songs played on his radio and then we came across this rather large buoy which displayed my favorite number. He is always gracious in stopping when I’d like to get my camera out and take photographs. I love him, boating, the sparkling water and the number 22!
It was a Sun-fun-day with family home from their first year of college and their friends over. We were paddle boarding, surfing, walking the beach, collecting shells, playing baseball and cooking out. Summer is in full swing and is oh so colorful except for our black and white paddleboard paddles!
Country roads, flowers in bloom, birds chirping and the sun shining. All good things on the way down to Keuka Lake (KEW-ka). Keuka Lake is a 22-mile long Y shaped lake referred to in the past as Crooked Lake. (Keuka means “canoe landing” in the Iroquois language and “lake with an elbow” in the Seneca language). It is surrounded by gorgeous vineyards and strolling grapevines.
Located at the northeastern tip is “American’s Coolest Little Town” called Hammondsport. Think of the town where Michael J. Fox skateboards through in Back to the Future. Hammondsport looks just like it!
This photograph was one I had to pull over for and jump out and shoot! Spring has definitely sprung in upstate New York!
A good lesson learned for this new photographer and that is some of your favorite photographs are taken at the most random times and locations. This photograph was shot while in a drive-thru line at a Dunkin’ Donuts for some much needed coffee on my way to work one morning a few weeks ago. I reviewed my results just recently and was pleasantly surprised. I hope you are as well.
